Website Content & Design | Local Pages

Local pages are a valuable tool to show your customers the areas you serve. You can use them simply to show the cities/towns you deliver to, or you can include pages for local businesses or facilities you deliver to frequently such as hospitals, funeral homes, or churches.

Local pages improve your ranking in Google, Bing and other search engines. The pages are optimized to be search engine friendly.

Use these pages to get more user visits and purchases on your flower shop's websites. Any potential customers searching for flower delivery to the location of one of your local pages have a much greater chance of finding your Floranext website.

Note: In order to begin using Local Pages on your website, you will first need to fill out all location information on your Store Info page (Settings > Store Info).

To create a local page, navigate in your Floranext dashboard to Website > Content > Local Pages.

Next, click Add New Page.

Now that we're ready to begin editing our first Local Page, we will break down some of the options to help you get started.

  • Page Title: The page name.
  • Page Type: Choose from among a list of page types. Note that your first page must be a City/Town.
  • State: If your shop is in the US, this option will be a drop-down menu that allows you to select the various states/territories. If you are outside of the USA you can fill this in manually.
  • Image: You have the option to add an image to a Local Page. If you know any local photographers, you might consider asking them to help out here! If not, Google Images will almost always have free images available for use in your city/town.

Below is a section for you to describe the location. Many of our shops pull sections of information from their city/town's Wikipedia page. You are welcome to put whatever you think is applicable in this section.

Once you've filled out all this information, you can save the page and return to the Local Pages directory.

In the Local Pages directory we can see the new city page. To create another page for a local business in this city, click Add New Page once more.

This time we are creating a page for a local Hospital. You will see the highlighted section I have chosen Hospitals as the Page Type instead of Cities/Towns. With any Page Type other than a City/Town, you will be able to add the specific address and Zip/Postal Code. You will also now see an option to select the City that this business resides in. If you are following along step-by-step, select the city we just created. Once you're done, save the page again and click Back.

Now that we have created a few Local Pages for our website, we want to add them to the Navigation Bar so that they can be easily seen by the customer.

From the Local Pages hub, go ahead and click the drop-down menu titled + Append right next to the header that says Cities/Towns.

Click the desired location for your local Cities/Towns. Many shops choose to append it to a Local Delivery section, but you can choose any section of the Nav Bar you would like such as right under the Home button.

If you choose the name of the city itself, local pages will be hidden on the navbar. They will still be visible in the footer.

Congratulations, you have finished creating your first Local Pages!

You can now navigate to back to the main page of your website and see the city we just created in the section that we chose to append it to on the navbar. You won't see links for businesses on the navbar, but once you click on the page for the city you will be able to see all the local businesses you've designated for that city.
